EVera Recruitment Information Pack for AmpliSi

About AmpliSi

AmpliSi is an early-stage UK battery materials company focused on one of the most important challenges in electrification, improving how batteries perform at a fundamental level.

Based in Sheffield and spun out of the University of Sheffield, the company is developing next-generation silicon anode materials designed to replace traditional graphite in lithium-ion batteries. While silicon has long been seen as the future of battery performance, scaling it safely and cost-effectively has remained a major industry challenge. AmpliSi is working to solve that.

The Technology

At the heart of AmpliSi is a proprietary process that transforms silica into porous silicon, creating a high-performance anode material that can be integrated into existing battery manufacturing.

This matters because the anode is one of the key limiting factors in battery performance. By improving it, AmpliSi has the potential to unlock higher energy density, faster charging and longer-lasting batteries without requiring a complete overhaul of current production methods.

What sets the company apart is its focus on scalability. Rather than developing something that works only in a lab environment, AmpliSi is building a process that is safer, lower-cost and designed to work at an industrial scale. It is this combination of performance and practicality that makes the technology particularly compelling.

Mission & Vision

“Our mission is to make high-performance batteries more accessible and sustainable by transforming simple silica into advanced silicon anodes that power the next generation of electric vehicles.

Dr. Ruth Sayers, CEO

Growth & Opportunity

Having secured early-stage funding, AmpliSi is now entering a key phase of growth. The business is transitioning from university spin-out to a scaling technology company, building capability across materials development, process engineering and commercialisation.

This is the stage where ideas turn into products and where early team members have the opportunity to shape not just the technology, but the company itself.

Why Join AmpliSi

AmpliSi offers something quite rare.

It is a small, deep-tech company working on a problem that sits at the heart of the global transition to electrification.

For candidates, this means:

  • You are not joining a large organisation working on incremental improvements.
  • You are joining a team trying to unlock a fundamental step change in battery performance.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Work on genuinely cutting-edge battery materials
  • Contribute to technology moving from lab to scale
  • Be part of a small team where your work has real visibility
  • Help shape both the product and the direction of the company
  • Play a role in solving one of the biggest challenges in energy and mobility

Employee Benefits

  • The following are just examples. This information needs to be confirmed.
  • Annual leave of 25 days plus bank holidays
  • Potential for share options
  • Contributory pension scheme (5% employee & 3% employer contributions)
  • Private Health Insurance (only applies to some roles within the company)

Summary

AmpliSi is developing a new generation of silicon anode materials that could significantly improve the performance and accessibility of batteries.

For those who want to work on meaningful, technically challenging problems, within a small team tackling a global challenge, it offers the opportunity to be part of something at a genuinely important stage of its journey.
