We are currently seeking an Electrode Process Engineer to supervise the day to day operations of the electrode processing operations including routine maintenance, repair, and support activities. Britishvolt are dedicated to supporting the future of electrified transportation and sustainable energy storage, producing world-leading lithium-ion battery technologies.

The Electrode Process Engineer Duties:

  • Work alongside relevant work streams to scale the electrode process from pilot to high volume production with the goal of delivering a fully functional manufacturing process.
  • A responsibility for the electrode processing operations including routine reactive and preventative maintenance, tracking methods, documentation, process improvement and training operators.
  • Carry out or supervise FATs, installations, equipment commissioning, SATs and improvements.
  • Finalize the process windows and DFMEA / PFMEA with R&D and Quality Assurance teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve processing issues such as slurry formulation optimization

The Successful Electrode Process Engineer will have:

  • A Degree in Physics / Materials Science / Mechanical / Chemical / Industrial Engineering.
  • Relevant work experience within a high-volume production field (preferably battery manufacturing).
  • Previous experience in a similar a process engineering role within thin-film coating is essential – Preferably within lithium-ion batteries.
  • Knowledge of coating techniques (transfer roll, comma, slot die, gravure, patch coating, etc.)
  • Experienced with DFMEA and QA troubleshooting tools.
  • Successful track record of leading process improvement projects in a production setting.
  • Knowledge of typical battery electrode materials and their properties is a strong plus
