Our client, a rapidly expanding player in advanced battery manufacturing, is seeking an experienced Head of Manufacturing Engineering to lead the development, improvement, and delivery of world-class processes and facilities. This is a pivotal role shaping the ramp-up of lithium-ion battery production and driving best-in-class engineering performance across the organisation.

The Head of Manufacturing Engineering will:

  • Lead the Manufacturing Engineering function, ensuring processes, facilities, and equipment meet quality, cost, delivery, and safety requirements.
  • Drive engineering strategy and continuous improvement initiatives to support large-scale lithium-ion battery manufacturing.
  • Oversee commissioning, optimisation, and ongoing improvement of production equipment, working closely with machine vendors and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with product engineering, quality, operations, and commercial teams to ensure manufacturability and alignment with customer expectations.
  • Manage engineering projects from concept to delivery, ensuring capability, efficiency, and on-time completion.
  • Provide strong leadership to a multidisciplinary team, building capability, structure, and performance across the department.

The Head of Manufacturing Engineering will have:

  • Proven experience leading a manufacturing or engineering function, ideally within batteries, automotive, or complex advanced manufacturing.
  • Strong strategic and operational leadership, with a track record of delivering engineering roadmaps, processes, and high-value projects.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment specification, commissioning, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to influence across engineering, operations, suppliers, and customers.
  • Strong commercial and budget management capabilities, including capex planning and delivering projects to cost and timeline.
  • Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (Master's preferred) with professional membership or chartership strongly advantageous.

This is a high-impact leadership position within a fast-growing technology environment. You'll shape future manufacturing capability, guide a team of specialists, and play a central role in the industrialisation of next-generation battery technology for the UK.

If you're driven by innovation, operational excellence, and the challenge of building world-class manufacturing at scale, we'd love to hear from you.
