Mechanical Design Engineer

Are you passionate about innovation in electric propulsion? A pioneering technology company is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will:

• Design and develop mechanical components for electric motors and generators, including housings, stators, and rotors.
• Conduct 3D modelling and structural analysis (FEA) to optimise designs for performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with electrical and controls engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
• Produce and review engineering drawings and specifications in line with internal and industry standards.
• Lead prototyping and validation activities, iterating designs based on test results.
• Support manufacturing by ensuring mechanical designs are cost-effective, scalable, and high quality.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will have:

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience of machinery & equipment i.e. anything to do with DFM, rotating machinery, or developing/manufacturing
• Strong CAD skills – ideally with SolidWorks (other platforms also considered).
• Familiarity with FEA tools and an understanding of material properties and manufacturing techniques.
• Experience with GD&T and mechanical drawing standards.
• Comfortable working hands-on with prototyping, testing, and refining mechanical systems.
