Our client, a leading organisation focusing on battery cell research and manufacturing has an exciting opportunity for a Cell Development Engineer. The successful candidate will work alongside a small and growing team of Scientist and Engineers in Electrochemistry team for development and commercialisation of innovative cell designs.

The Cell Development Engineer will:

• Plan, develop and execute Design of Experiments for fabrication and testing of lithium-ion cells.
• Lead design, development, testing and validation of lithium-ion cells.
• Evaluate cell performances and drive improvement activities.
• Select and evaluate new chemistries and materials for lithium-ion cells (active materials, conductive additives, electrodes, electrolytes, separators etc.)
• Liaise with customers and external test houses.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, technical specifications and lead all cell design gate reviews.

The Cell Development Engineer will have:

• Masters or PhD in electrochemistry or other related discipline
• 5 or more years of direct industrial experience in lithium-ion battery industry for both laboratory and commercial-grade cells (such as 21700 and/or pouch cells).
• Knowledge and experience of electrochemical techniques such as impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic cycling (GC), galvanostatic intermittent titration techniques (GITT or PITT), DQ/DV etc.
• Experience of writing technical specifications for components and assemblies.
• Ability to deliver operational plans in a highly demanding environment.
