A Midlands based battery cell research and manufacturing centre is currently recruiting a Process Simulation Engineer. The successful candidate will be able to work collaboratively across various business functions and external partners, an excellent communicator to all levels (technical and non-technical), support design and development activities and a strong ability to disseminate and analysis both model and experimental data to provide clear and concise outcomes.

 

The Process Simulation Engineer will:

  • Develop test methods providing critical inputs to simulation models as well as subsequent model validation.
  • Use knowledge of process parameters critical to quality to inform manufacturing control plans, PFMEA and equipment setup.
  • Deliver simulation outcomes in support of customer programmes, on time and to target.
  • Develop, release, and continuously improve process simulation models to minimise setup time and waste on the manufacturing line and to determine product quality outcomes.
  • Liaise with external (third-party) simulation consultants and developers to leverage cutting edge advancements in process simulation.

 

The Process Simulation Engineer will have:

  • Master’s Degree qualification (MEng, MSc or equivalent) awarded grade 2:1 or higher in relevant degree such as Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Mathematics.
  • Strong technical understanding of engineering first principles covering heat transfer and non-linear structural mechanics of materials.
  • Proficiency in CAE software tools covering explicit and implicit structural modelling - preferably ANSYS Mechanical/Classic and LS-DYNA.
  • Knowledge of interpreting microstructure and material measurement data to provide input to 2D/3D simulation models.
  • Strong attention to detail – data driven, diligent and thorough in approach to conducting simulation and experimental studies.
