Senior Research Engineer - Electrical Machines

We are currently looking for a Senior Research Engineer - Electrical Machines for our client, an industrialisation centre for Power Electronics, Machines and Drives. The successful candidate will shape and lead industrially focused research projects that deliver advanced performance, next generation electrical machines with enhanced thermal management and integrated packaging.

The Senior Research Engineer - Electrical Machines will:

• Conceive new opportunities and approaches in the field of testing for application to electrical machines and systems research and commercial projects.
• Initiate and develop ideas/approaches and novel techniques supporting the development of electrical machines and systems.
• Develop and deliver academic / industrial teaching / training opportunities in your field of expertise.
• Promote and deliver innovative solutions to the Centre Lead and/or customers / partners.
• Initiate, develop and project manage activities in the field of your specialisation, including costing proposals, report preparation and delivery.

The Senior Research Engineer - Electrical Machines will have:

• Degree level in Electrical Engineering or a cognate discipline, plus comprehensive work experience, with a significant proportion in a relevant engineering/scientific role.
• Ability to identify process constraints arising from manufacturing equipment and translate to design constraints / design for manufacture feedback.
• Strong written, oral, and visual presentation of information. Comfortable demonstrating systems / processes.
• Analytical skills, structured thinker.
