Chief Engineer - Electrochemical Materials and Manufacturing

Our client, an UK-based Research and Education group is currently looking to hire a Chief Engineer - Electrochemical Materials and Manufacturing. The successful candidate will be responsible for the line management of Principal and Lead Engineers within the area of Electrochemical Materials and Manufacturing, assisting the Head of Directorate with industry engagement, and ensuring deliverables are met and rapid resolutions of any technical issues are achieved.

 

The Chief Engineer - Electrochemical Materials and Manufacturing will:

  • Contribute to the overall technical leadership of projects by working pro-actively with the partners and senior management to deliver technical objectives to time and to budget.
  • Create effective central project teams in support of individual project objectives.
  • Ensure rapid resolution of any technical issues that may arise and to refer unresolved matters to project steering groups, or the Principal Investigator (PI), for guidance or decision as judged to be necessary.
  • Identify and manage issues of confidentiality and Intellectual Property protection as necessary.
  • Plan and deliver new collaborative research proposals to a variety of funding bodies, and for industry partners.

 

The Chief Engineer - Electrochemical Materials and Manufacturing will have:

  • Doctoral degree level in a technical subject or a first degree in a technical subject combined with substantial management experience in an appropriate industry.
  • Significant experience in a lead technical role in the development of new electrochemical materials and the manufacturing methods required to underpin their translation to new battery technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills together with the ability to persuade and influence both external partners and internal colleagues.
  • Significant experience leading experimental research in terms of both staff development, laboratories, and manufacturing facilities.
