A Midlands-based battery cell research and manufacturing centre is looking to recruit an Electrical and Electronics Lead. The successful candidate will line manage a small but growing team of Engineers in new product development and industrialisation of batteries (module and pack) and battery cells.

  

The Electrical and Electronics Lead will:

  • Develop and maintain the high voltage policy and supporting guidelines and best practices.
  • Provide technical support to team members to enable them to complete their tasks.
  • Use departmental processes and procedures to manage the release and change of technical documentation and data at different maturity states in the product Lifecyle.
  • Conduct EE design review using electrical calculations for low and high-voltage components against design and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage, plan, and forecast team members workload, and carry out team meetings to ensure activity is aligned with business priorities.
  • Review design suitability against DFM, DFA and EE integration criteria such as EDS design rules, creepage and clearance.

  

The Electrical and Electronics Lead will have:

  • 5+ years previous experience in the above accountabilities.
  • Excellent academic background Masters level degree qualification in Engineering or Science discipline (Electrical/Electronics/Physics/Systems/Software or Control engineering) achieving 2:1 or higher.
  • Experience in creating and leading DFMEA activity and other product safety assessment methodologies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work systematically and use appropriate root cause analysis (RCA) methods to resolve system or component-level issues.
  • First-hand experience working on battery cells, modules, or packs.
  • Experience in working with high voltage equipment and products (60V-1500V) and is currently serving as the HV authorised/Senior Authorised person (SAP) in their current role.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
