Our client, a provider of global product engineering and digital services, focusing on collaborative innovation and the adoption of sustainable technologies and processes, has an exciting opportunity for an EV Charging Systems Principal Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for project delivery for HV Powertrain Electronics and Charging System Integration projects in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Centre of Excellence within Engineering, Research and Development. 

 

The EV Charging Systems Principal Engineer will:

  • Provide leadership and coordination within HV ePWT Power Electronics, and Electrical System Integration projects within the Electrical Engineering (EE) Department.
  • Manage their team’s technical deliverables, planning, reporting on progress and providing expert knowledge in EV Charging. Technical ownership is expected for the following regions:

               - HV Distribution systems and LV power management

               - EV Charging Systems and Energy Conversion

               - ISO15118 and other relevant charging standards

               - ISO26262 processes

  • Develop the System Design Specifications & the Statements of Work for all projects within portfolio.
  • Project manage/design systems, subsystems and components which meet agreed programme targets at lowest Total Cost, continually monitor the cost status versus cost target, and take appropriate action to control, identify and report cost risks and opportunities as soon as they are known.
  • Provide mentoring to off-shore resource (India, Romania) to up-skill them in the provision of HV, Powertrain, Chassis and Electrical System Integration skills blended with European experience to the organisation’s customers.

 

The EV Charging Systems Principal Engineer will have:

  • Degree in engineering or related technical discipline, and preferably with a higher qualification, (Master’s Degree or equivalent).
  • Ability to meet new customers and develop relationships, working closely with our commercial and sector leaders, and operating within the Global Vehicle Programs and Development group to deliver business.
  • Experience in design and development within the automotive Electrical and Power Electronics systems sector, although other areas of relevant technology development may also be considered.
  • Good understanding of Power electronics design and Design for EMC.
  • Validation of HV systems and appropriate legislation for EV charging systems.
  • Strong track record of delivering significant high value business and delivering to very tight timescales.
  • Relevant automotive industry experience, preferably within OEM, Tier 1 or consultancy business.
