Our client, a pioneer in zero-emission HGV transport has an exciting position for a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer. This opportunity is to be a core part of the procurement business unit responsible for delivering all aspects of the Supplier Operations Quality Assurance function on an on-going basis in line with the Quality Management System and Quality Policy to ensure that the business’ products and services are fit for purpose and meet customer expectations.

The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer will:

  • Be involved in the creation and implementation of best practice quality vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Purchasing activities.
  • Conduct supplier validation audits, with supplier support and supplier advanced product quality planning. (APQP, PPAP)
  • Oversee the Supplier Key Performance Indicators. (KPIs)
  • Support the development and refinement of Design and Process FMEA’s. (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
  • Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis and FMEA. (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
  • Asses the supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain.
  • Manage the root cause analysis and corrective actions process of supplier quality issues.
  • Aid with new product launches to ensure suppliers can deliver to the required quality standards.

The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer will have:

  • Relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred, or HND, BTEC Professional Level 5 Award or equivalent NVQ Level 5 qualifications.
  • Great organisation and prioritization skills, with the ability to focus on short and long terms strategic objectives.
  • Previous experience in a supplier quality assurance or related role, preferably within an automotive or manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to clearly and accurately present information to all levels of the company.
  • Logical and analytical thinking with the ability to explain and/or simplify complex technical/regulatory information and compliance strategies.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills in an automotive compliance and engineering context. Able to work under pressure in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
  • Capacity to work on own initiative and build collaborative relationships, excellent leadership, mentoring and people management skills with a positive and overachieving attitude.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers.
