Mechanical Engineering Lead

On behalf of our Coventry based client, we are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineering Lead. They are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Lead with practical hands-on experience and the ability to develop a cost-effective, coordinated working design.

The Mechanical Engineering Lead duties:

• Mechanical design activities (CAD, BOM,)
• Product data management ownership, component and material selection.
• Design for manufacture and design for assembly evaluations, for cell, module and pack.
• Product assembly support
• Characterisation of product problems and technical challenges
• Product approval (Mechanical aspects)

The Mechanical Engineering Lead will have:

• Experience in the design and development of electromechanical, or electrochemical products (ideally in the automotive industry, but not essential)
• Significant experience in CREO CAD & Windchill PDM. Knowledge on analysis packages beneficial (ANSYS Fluent, MathCAD, COSMOL, MATLAB)
• Working to Automotive quality standards, knowledge of TS16949, ISO 9001 and those specific to battery design and manufacture.
• Willingness to travel to visit customers. Driving licence.
• Solid understanding of High voltage batteries fundamentals.
• Member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. IMechE), ideally Chartered.
