Senior Functional Safety Engineer

An Automotive company focusing on the design and build of prototype and low volume high energy density lithium battery packs is now looking for a Senior Functional Safety Engineer. The successful candidate will work alongside systems, electronic, mechanical and software engineers to produce both complete vehicle solutions and individual product applications, maintaining our existing systems and developing new technologies.

  

The Senior Functional Safety Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Support the development of function safety concepts, technical safety concepts, system design specifications, hardware and software requirements and test definition activities to deliver ISO26262 to clients.
  • Apply safety analyses techniques (e.g. FMEA, FTA, DFA) with broad exposure to different processes, methodologies and stakeholder objectives.
  • System and element level safety requirements capture, management and technical review.
  • Informing system level architectural design and technical reviews.
  • Support with a product integration and solutions into customer functional safety concepts, interfacing directly with a customer; representing their interests with the internal team of technical experts and designers.
  • Ensuring consistency between SW/HW Safety Requirements, Hardware-Software-Interface (HSI), SW/HW Architecture and Technical Safety Concept or System Architectural Design Specification.

  

The Senior Functional Safety Engineer will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ demonstrable automotive industry experience within a role delivering safety systems to ASIL D, working to or implementing functional safety standards (ISO26262 or IEC61508).
  • A degree level qualification within a relevant Engineering discipline – preferably electrical & electronic engineering.
  • Experience in conducting/leading FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, HARA & DFA activities.
  • Proven experience of working on automotive electrification and HV Standards are strongly desired (inverters; batteries/energy storage; power electronics).
  • Confident at reading vehicle wiring / electrical component schematics diagrams and understand component electrical interfaces.
  • Experience of using Isograph Reliability Workbench tool (FTA, Reliability Predictions)
  • Understanding of engineering first principles.
