A leader in electrified HGV technology is currently seeking a Lead Battery Charging System Development Engineer. This role involves charging system requirement development, specification generation, system design, verification, and validation.

 

The Lead Battery Charging System Development Engineer duties involve:

 

  • Developing, implementing, and validating appropriate high voltage charging system interfaces and subsystems
  • Liaise directly with customers, suppliers, and Company staff at all levels to capture charging system requirements and satisfy Company‚Äôs technical and project delivery needs
  • Participate in research and development of appropriate charging system and power management strategies to meet vehicle requirements
  • Derive and validate the charging system component level requirements
  • Develop and execute appropriate system-level verification & validation plans
  • Develop systems from Proof of Concept to C sample and production as appropriate
  • Support product sourcing, purchasing, and selection as required by the design process
  • Participate in DFMEA processes (based on standards) and make sure tests that are identified as recommended actions are incorporated
  • Subjectively and objectively assess component stability performance in a repeatable, safe manner
  • Use vehicle-based instrumentation to gather on-vehicle data
  • Use tools to gather data on system performance
  • Use gathered data alongside subjective evaluation to identify parameter changes to drive the desired change in system and vehicle performance
  • Work closely with suppliers to determine parameter changes
  • According to validation/measurement results, define necessary product improvements to meet the specifications
  • Lead the battery product validations for their area of the program
  • Lead and/or support technicians and trainee engineers

 

 

The Successful Lead Battery Charging System Development Engineer will have:

 

  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree preferred in either Electronic or Electrical, Automotive or Systems Engineering
  • Knowledge of electric and hybrid vehicle technologies, such as Batteries, Power Distribution Unit, Inverters, and eMotors, Vehicle powertrain, heating, and cooling systems
  • Experience in automotive or other relevant HV systems design, development, and validation
  • Familiarity with systems engineering processes from requirements capture through to design validation
  • Experience with CAN, National Instruments Labview, and Data Loggers
  • Willingness to work in a hands-on Battery development role
  • Understanding of legislation and standards
  • An understanding of Lean Manufacturing
  • Proven experience in a similar role, working on HV vehicles (although onsite training will need to be completed)
