A leader in electrified HGV technology is currently seeking a Lead Battery Management System Engineer.  The successful applicant will be required to form part of the BMS development team and will be part of developing a battery management system to the ISO26262 standard.

 

The Lead Battery Management System Engineer duties:

 

  • Responsible for the development and validation of products, systems, and components relating to battery management technologies
  • Work on many phases or sub-tasks of large projects working under instruction of technical lead engineer or entire projects of moderate complexity
  • Analyse desired battery management product/systems specifications and applicable regulations/legislation for their area of the program
  • Define the battery management product functional analysis (based on standard) to translate customer specifications and internal requirements into clear product performance criteria.
  • Participate in DFMEA processes (based on standards) and make sure tests that are identified as recommended actions are incorporated
  • Use vehicle-based instrumentation to gather on-vehicle data
  • Use gathered data alongside subjective evaluation to identify parameter changes to drive the desired change in system and vehicle performance
  • Work closely with suppliers to determine parameter changes
  • According to validation/measurement results, define necessary product improvements to meet the specifications
  • Lead and/or support technicians and trainee engineers

The Successful Lead Battery Management System Engineer will have:

  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree preferred in either Electronic or Electrical, Automotive or Systems Engineering
  • Battery cell, module, and pack level experience within manufacture and testing
  • Experience with CAN, National Instruments Labview, and Data Loggers
  • Willingness to work in a hands-on Battery development role
  • Understanding of legislation and standards
  • Proven experience in a similar role, working on HV vehicles (although onsite training will need to be completed)
