A Midlands based battery cell research and manufacturing centre is currently recruiting Materials Lead to join the company. This position is to aid the company in developing the next generation of battery cells by focussing on the industrialisation of cell chemistry, materials parameters, and properties relative to scale up production activities.
The Materials Lead duties:
Act as the main point of contact and provide support for customer, development, and industrialisation projects on battery materials related issues.
Review and write technical papers, participate in customer meetings, and perform testing and analysis to support company activities, including feasibility evaluation.
Characterise materials, electrodes, and designs to support decision making.
Communicate clearly Material and chemistry results and findings to cross functional team members and management.
Support product quality, component material selection approval and cell material performance validation & test activities.
The successful Materials Lead will have:
A minimum of a master’s level university education in Materials Engineering, Chemistry or physical sciences required. A PHD is strongly desirable.
Significant experience of lithium-ion batteries (ideally automotive but not essential) and their material components.
Experience of small team supervision beneficial (Scientists, laboratory Technicians).
Previous Research experience in energy storage in different types of batteries or supercapacitor technology.
