Controls Systems Engineer

A Hybrid / EV System Integration company specialising in the specification, design, integration and validation of low carbon powertrain systems is currently looking for a Controls Systems Engineer. In this position you will be a hands-on engineer, who will embrace the company’s cultural and professional business environment and will work directly with our customers and with the various suppliers involved in control system development, system design and integration.

The Controls Systems Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Hands on development of embedded control systems and system integration.
  • Work with customer requirements/requests and deliver engineering solutions.
  • Perform control system design solutions to achieve customer requirements.
  • Perform electrical system bench / vehicle tests and provide analysis on issues found.
  • Comply with processes that deliver a robust and configuration controlled working environment for control system development tasks.

The Controls Systems Engineer will have:

  • Industry experience in embedded control system design, development & testing. Powertrain electrification experience a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (or related professional accreditation).
  • Familiarity with automotive (OEM) specifications and standards.
  • Knowledge of system integration and control system development.
  • Experience in the transfer of modelled control systems down to implementations in ECUs, including associated software such as MATLAB/Simulink
  • Knowledge of Automotive communications protocols – CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet. Application via Vector Canoe / Canalyser or similar tools highly valued
  • Perform safety management activities to relevant standards during all project phases including HV electrical safety, preliminary hazard analysis, S/DFMEA, qualitative and quantitative fault tree analysis.
  • Basic understanding of safety architectures and safety plans to ensure compliance with ISO26262, ASPICE
  • Ensure effective communication, containment and action plans with regards to quality related issues.
  • Support effective root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions are implemented for quality issues.
