Britishvolt is Britain’s foremost investor in battery technologies. We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Director to join Management Team reporting directly to the COO. The role will have overarching responsibility for Quality across the operation, from supplier quality, through manufacturing and customer quality.

The Quality Director duties:

  • Define and implement the Quality strategy.
  • Develop and establish Britishvolt’s Quality Management System and ensure successful implementation at the new site and certification of ISO9001, ISO14001, and other relevant standards.
  • Oversee and manage all customer audits.
  • Using Britishvolt’s Quality Management System drive continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Be accountable for process and product quality whilst providing leadership to your team and the operations team.
  • Set and monitor quality targets e.g. process variability, non-conformance etc.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise within the field of quality management and quality improvement e.g. Lean six sigma.
  • Hire, grow and develop a team of highly technically skilled people who will form the quality team.
  • Champion quality science and use data to drive effective decision making.

The Quality Director will have:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical/Mechanical/ Chemical. /Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience in a similar management role, leading a quality team, and working within production line environment, particularly relevant is experience in hazardous environments or the automotive sector.
  • Deep technical battery and component expertise.
  • Consolidated working knowledge of various quality systems and methodologies (e.g. six sigma, 7 QC tools, 8D and root cause analyses). You must be proficient in these tools and have an understanding of their value and implementation so can develop and lead your team to use them.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality systems and continuous improvement practices and a working knowledge of the application of information technology to support quality management.
  • A motivating leader with self-discipline, a natural talent to make things happen and a passion for mentoring people about quality.
  • Knowledge and experience of ISO14001 and ISO45001
  • Experienced using statistical techniques to question and drive analyses of sampling rates and production data.
