EVera Recruitment Information Pack for Altilium

About Altilium

Altilium is a UK-based clean technology group focused on the recycling of EV batteries and the production of sustainable battery materials.

The company’s proprietary “EcoCathode™” process can recover high-purity materials such as lithium, nickel and graphite from end-of-life batteries and manufacturing scrap.

Altilium is developing a fully integrated, circular battery supply chain in the UK, from collection, through black mass production, to refining and supply of cathode active materials (CAM).

Technology & Mission

  • Altilium’s EcoCathode process has been reported to recover over 97% of lithium and 99% of graphite from certain LFP battery feedstreams.
  • The company aims to build the UK’s first at-scale EV battery recycling and refining facility (ACT 3) in Plymouth, Devon, capable of recovering critical battery minerals.
  • A further planned facility (ACT 4) in Teesside is intended to become one of the largest in Europe for battery recycling and refining, processing large volumes of black mass and producing CAM.
  • Vision: to build a domestic, low-carbon source of battery materials that supports the UK’s EV and energy storage industry, reducing reliance on imports and lowering embedded emissions.

Company Culture

Joining Altilium means becoming part of a movement that is redefining the future of energy, manufacturing and sustainability in the UK.

The team is united by a shared purpose: to accelerate the transition to net zero by unlocking the full potential of battery recycling and promoting a circular economy.

Altilium doesn’t just talk about change; they make it happen. Altilium looks for people who embody resilience, rigour, and a collaborative spirit. Their work is fast-paced and ambitious, requiring individuals who thrive in a scale-up environment where innovation meets action.

They value circularity, positivity, and practicality, along with the drive to build something truly transformative.

Locations & Facilities

Altilium has its technology centre and early-stage recycling/pilot facilities in Devon, UK.

It is currently constructing a larger facility in Plymouth, Devon (ACT 3) with the capacity to recover critical battery minerals from end-of-life batteries.

A major future facility is planned in Teesside (ACT 4) for large-scale black mass recycling and refining into CAM.

Growth & Opportunities

Altilium is entering a rapid growth phase. Key indicators:

  • The company has secured strategic investment from Marubeni Corporation of USD 5 million as part of its Series B funding round, supporting the development of its Teesside facility.
  • The company’s strategic plan includes processing over 150,000 EV batteries per year at its ACT 4 recycling hub, producing large volumes of CAM (30,000 tpa) to supply UK gigafactories.
  • As the company scales, employees have the opportunity to work across design, pilot operations, scale-up engineering, and new commercial facilities, providing a chance to grow rapidly and influence the direction of the business.
