Engineer - Firmware Test

A leader in electrified HGV technology is currently seeking a Firmware Test Engineer to test and validate Firmware systems, processes, methodologies as well as getting involved in software component and vehicle design to enhance the overall vehicle performance.

Firmware Test Engineer Duties:

• Test and validate the firmware design requirements.
• Produce design ideas, based on research, into technical plans for prototypes using Unit test, Embedded C, CAN networks, Mathworks, Hardware in the Loop, Processor In the Loop, Python, Logic Analyser, Jira, Python, QT.
• Analyse the design proposals and the technical information to identify the issues arising during the development, defining and implementing adequate solutions in order to reach a feasible proposal with a high form and aesthetic quality.
• Attend design reviews to present design ideas and to discuss and critique alternative design solutions.
• Modify designs based on the analysis to re-test and analyse until design meets specification requirements.
• Influence design changes on existing products.
• Track design changes.
• Keep up with current and developing engineering trends.
• Support technical staff and/or junior engineers.

The Successful Firmware Test Engineer Will Have:

• Relevant engineering degree is essential.
• Experience of firmware and embedded software is essential (embedded C).
• Hands on electronic Test experience including writing test specifications.
• Prior experience working to Functional Safety Standards (ISO26262 or IEC61508) 
• And good understanding of EMC is desirable.
• Extensive work experience in a software / Firmware / test environment, preferably automotive.
• Consistently demonstrates extremely high levels of technical knowledge, ingenuity and creativity.
