EVera Recruitment Information Pack for Sention Technologies Ltd.

About Sention

Sention Technologies is a London-based deep-tech company building next-generation diagnostics for the battery industry. Founded in 2022 and led by co-founder and CEO Professor Dan Brett, a leading academic in fuel cells, batteries and supercapacitors, Sention gives researchers, manufacturers and operators a clear window into what is happening inside a battery cell.

Technology and USP

Sention uses patented ultrasound to scan battery cells in seconds. Short pulses of sound travel through the cell and the echoes reveal its internal structure, with no contact, no coupling agents and no damage to the cell. That makes it possible to spot lithium plating, gas pockets, voids, poor electrolyte wetting and hidden manufacturing defects, across different chemistries, formats and cell sizes. Put simply, Sention Technologies builds the tools that let the battery industry see inside a cell without opening it.

The technology works from lab-scale R&D through to production, with the next-generation Sentry system being developed for integration into manufacturing lines. Sention serves battery R&D teams, cell manufacturers, pack integrators and fleet operators, helping them shorten development cycles, cut scrap and catch safety issues earlier.

Mission

Sention's mission is to transform diagnostics for the electrochemical industry, enabling unprecedented insights into battery performance, quality, and safety.

Better diagnostics mean safer, longer-lasting and more sustainable batteries, and less waste on the way to net zero.

What is it like to work there?

Sention is a small, early-stage team working at the sharp end of battery science, where hardware, data and AI meet. With a lean team, people take on real ownership and see their work go straight into products that customers are already using. Roles span instrument engineering, rapid prototyping and software, and the company is backed by experienced founders and investors who have built deep-tech businesses before.

Company Location

Sention is based in Hackney Wick, East London, a creative, canalside neighbourhood of studios, workshops and independent cafes. It sits next to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with Stratford and its Overground, Elizabeth line and Tube connections a short distance away, and central London easily within reach.
