An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Vehicle Technician to work for our client, a leader in electrified HGV technology, manufacturing zero-emission trucks with a revolutionary combination of battery electric and hydrogen fuel-cell range extender technology. The successful candidate will support investigations, fault diagnostics, capture data, and perform containment & corrective activities.

 

The Associate Vehicle Technician will:

  • Maintain quality standards by inspecting and testing finished products to ensure conformance with specifications and codes (Customer satisfaction focused mindset)
  • Monitor and manage spares inventory & ordering for QA Vehicle Rectification Area.
  • Escalate technical/process issues and parts shortages to the appropriate supervisors/managers & support functions and work with them to find effective resolution.
  • Support internal shift meetings, provide KPI performance inputs as required.
  • Support learning & coaching for new products, Design changes, SOPs, WI’s, Process & Product conformity.
  • Control the QA Vehicle Rectification Area to ensure completion of work achieves all deliverables required, including timing, quality, build and gate release targets.
  • Perform assigned work from oral and /or written instructions, following Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and Build requirements documentation
  • Perform repairs & retrofits to vehicles to make them complete and correct against build specification with no faults, compliant for gate release (sale).

 

The Associate Vehicle Technician will have:

  • Either a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical assembly or equivalent, or through extensive work experience gained on the job with a comprehensive range of assembly, fitting skills.
  • BTEC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or an equivalent level qualification in a comparable Engineering discipline.
  • Experience working with High Voltage Vehicle Electrical systems would be an advantage, as would holding IMIAL Level 3 or above in Electric Vehicle Maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret Mechanical & Electrical engineering drawings, including electrical wiring schematics and Harness Connector Charts (Pin-Out charts).
  • Knowledge of vehicle systems architecture and interfacing, including Network bus protocols & diagnostics (e.g., CAN, LIN)
  • Ability to interpret and work from written instructions with limited supervision (Specifications, SOPs, WIs)
  • Use hand tools and measuring equipment competently and with high accuracy.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, both written and verbally.
  • Strong work ethic, including willingness to get work completed and on time.
