Senior CAD Design Engineer

A state-of-the-art R&D facility supporting the development, manufacturing and testing of lithium-ion batteries are currently seeking a Senior CAD Design Engineer to join their Engineering Team to drive the mechanical design of battery cells and supporting multiple projects.

The Senior CAD Design Engineer's duties are:    

• Design both pouch and cylindrical lithium-ion & sodium-ion battery cells and their components using CAD design tools, including; anodes, cathodes, separators, tabs and casing.
• Translate battery cell electrochemical performance into engineering design requirements for Li/Na ion pouch and cylindrical cells
• Lead development of DFMEA processes for Engineering designs and perform failure mode analysis for all Engineering cell designs
• Support Production with trouble shooting on current manufacturing machinery
• Interface with external customers, suppliers and partners, including presentation of 3D or 2D CAD as required
• Provide detailed CAD drawings of cell designs, jigs, fixtures for Engineering or Product Design reviews and reports

The Senior CAD Design Engineer will have:

• Diploma/HND or above in Mechanical or Production Engineering or equivalent
• Prior experience in using Solidworks or other CAD design software essential
• Experience in the design of Li-ion cells, manufacturing jigs, fixtures and fittings would be desirable but not essential
• Experience in 3D printing, injection moulding would be beneficial
