Our client, a leading investor in battery technologies, focusing on supporting the future of electrified transportation and sustainable energy storing, is currently hiring a Commercial Planning and Contracts Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for all commercial elements relating to the revenue growth of our business, including pricing, costing, contracting, governance, high-quality bid management, planning and forecasting.


The Commercial Planning and Contracts Director will:

  • Develop the company‚Äôs Commercial Playbook, including but not limited to:
  • Developing and executing a New Opportunity Review and Approval process aligned with Delegation of Authority limits.
  • Developing a commercial risk mitigation framework together with Head of Risk and Legal.
  • Developing and maintaining pricing strategies for the portfolio of products and maintain an up-to-date database of market pricing.
  • Developing commercial mechanisms to ensure cost variances are mitigated (e.g., material and energy escalation mechanisms, volume variance mechanisms, currency exposure mitigation etc.)    
  • Create and execute a comprehensive multi-year cashflow and P&L commercial-finance model for modelling the business cases of business opportunities with the ability to run and compare various scenarios and measure key KPIs (such as RoS, Gross Margin, IRR, NPV, Payback etc.) which will form the baseline for measuring programme delivery against.
  • Oversee the Commercial Costing Engineer to ensure an accurate, mature, and up-to-date ground-up costing and customer QAFs.
  • Manage, define, and develop the internal responses to RFIs / RFQs into OEM bids and client engagement team collateral.
  • Provide expert input and participate in the negotiation of contracts with major global vehicle OEMs.
  • Optimize revenue and profitability from contracts.
  • Provide short and long-term sales planning and forecasting leadership, working with the Operations team.


The Commercial Planning and Contracts Director will have:

  • Can-do attitude with the ability of working in a dynamic business experiencing change and growth.
  • Strong and deep understanding of contracts within the Tier 1 / vehicle OEM sector.
  • A strong sense of purpose with a highly customer centric, yet commercial, approach.
  • Strong track record of senior commercial responsibility for major contracts inclusive of pricing and negotiation.
  • Commercial-Finance aptitude, highly analytical and able to be detail orientated when required.
  • Expert MS Excel and financial / commercial modelling experience.
  • Comfortable with a high degree of interaction with clients as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Skilled in writing business proposals and approving contracts.
  • Ability of taking ownership and using initiative.
