Lead Process Development Engineer

A developer of graphene-enhanced cathode materials for the next generation of low-cost batteries based in Bristol is currently seeking a Lead Process Development Engineer to lead and grow the Production Team and innovate existing techniques while ensuring commercial viability and quality are sustained, during the transition to scaleup.

 

The Lead Process Development Engineer will:

  • Develop improved processes utilising unique self-assembly technology.
  • Propose, define, specify, implement and/ or optimise manufacturing techniques to enable the production of next-generation battery electrodes.
  • Lead activities within a multidisciplinary team, including researchers and technicians, to contribute to the development of production processes, enabling transfer from materials research through scaled-up prototypes to manufacturing using automated and semi-automated pilot equipment.
  • Leading operational and/or technical projects across a range of core operational activities across the engineering lifecycle.
  • Reporting results to a range of stakeholders and documenting preparatory methods, SOP’s and technical transfer reports.
  • Supporting equipment design and delivery of materials on time and in full to internal and external customers.

 

The successful Lead Process Development Engineer will have:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in Chemistry or another relatable subject
  • Relevant industrial experience. For example, a background in the battery, ceramics, polymers, electronics, food, and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Practical experience in technical leadership in manufacturing and/or process development.
  • Experience leading projects in a quality-driven research or manufacturing environment, using quality and traceability systems and maintaining auditable activity and/or batch records.
  • Practical experience in validating and maintaining automated and semi-automated manufacturing equipment, including problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • Practical experience in handling and maintaining safe working practices for hazardous materials and the use of protective equipment.
  • Good understanding of, compliance with and enforcement of health, safety and environmental standards within a chemical and/or hazmat environment.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOP) in a research or manufacturing environment. Managing compliance and change control.
