A state-of-the-art R&D laboratory facility supporting the development and testing of novel battery designs is now looking for a Kilo-ScaleDevelopment Chemist – Energy Storage. This role will involve the hands-on development and optimisation of manufacturing processes for materials and components for cells and batteries.

  

The Kilo-ScaleDevelopment Chemist – Energy Storage Will:

  • Evaluate current unit operations and processes and apply industry knowledge to optimise manufacturing process development.
  • Lead R&D in alternative and parallel technologies and identify potential methods of manufacture whereby significant cost or quality improvements could be realised.
  • Using data acquisition to influence decisions on projects for the prototyping and engineering of equipment.
  • Prove the production intent solution and create suitable documentation prior to handover to the manufacturing teams and partners.
  • As a team lead, you will ensure that new activities are well planned, and risk assessed.
  • Develop personnel within the cell prototyping team.
  • Ensure projects for scale-up of new processes are delivered on time and in full to internal customers.

  

The Kilo-ScaleDevelopment Chemist – Energy Storage Will Have:

  • Degree qualified in a chemical, physical science or engineering discipline Multiple years of industrial experience developing processes or products.
  • Prior industrial experience within the battery, electronics, plastics, food, fine chemical, pharmaceutical industries; Experience of pilot (kilo+) scale manufacture and materials processing is highly desirable.
  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing techniques used in chemical, materials and polymer processing (e.g. batch chemical processing, mixing, compounding, extrusion, coating, filtration, particle size control, QC techniques)
  • Experience of developing and working to standard operating procedures (SOP) in a research or manufacturing environment.
