A Midlands-based battery cell research and manufacturing centre is currently recruiting a Commercial Accountant to join the company. This position is to aid the company by adding value via maintaining effective procedural control and governance whilst engaging initiatives to improve commercial decisions.

The Commercial Accountant duties:

• To ensure UKBIC systems (manual & automated) for ‘projects’ are compliant to Innovate, State Aid, financial audit and ISO framework regulation
• Support the preparation of 3-year plans via implementing rolling budgets and sales forecasting,
• Attend and lead in regular project reviews with Project Co-ordinator team. Engage in Bus Dev reviews and present consolidated numbers i.e., by project type, customer work packages etc
• Report on project measurables i.e. actuals vs contract vs revenue recognised vs costs released with clear variance analysis. Supply the revenue and project cashflow.  
• Define and record projects drivers i.e. gateways, milestones, contractual terms. Define the accounting treatments to report on measurables and off targets.
• Satisfy key stakeholders and business partner UKBIC Technology (Man Eng/Prod Eng/Quality) and Commercial teams in all matters financial.
• Design quoting analysis tools for varied business needs

The successful Commercial Accountant will:

• Have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Studies or a related field.
• Have experience working on automotive/engineering/manufacturing projects
• Be a team player that is also confident working under their own initiative and has a track record of forming strong stakeholder relationships
• Have strong financial analysis experience with a good knowledge of Excel and confident at creating models and manipulating data from ERP systems.
• Be commercially minded and understand business concepts such as opportunity cost and added value and can take a horizontal viewpoint across the organisation.
